About me

I am a London-based documentary and environmental portrait photographer, strongly committed to social justice work and using photography as a medium to increase awareness, empathy and understanding of diverse life experiences and contexts.
I have a professional background of over 25 years working in the UK Charity and international development sectors. This has included working with human rights and advocacy organisations in Ghana, Togo and Uganda, managing an education programme between remote communities in Arctic Alaska and Aberdeenshire, providing support services for women in contact with the Criminal Justice System and UK wide work to support staff and people experiencing homelessness.
After years of self-taught practice, in 2025 I completed a professional photography course with the London Institute of Photography (LIoP), to strengthen my storytelling processes and how I embed photography in my wider work. I am committed to building trust with people I photograph; working in a way that is relational, trauma-informed and collaborative, so people feel safe, comfortable and confident in how they are seen by external audiences.
I am available for freelance work including commissions, editorial and collaborative projects. Please feel free to get in touch if you think I can help and we can arrange a call amandazbennettphotography@gmail.com
